Independent Living

Working together to prolong and support the independent living of older adults in their living environments.

Activage Project

The Case

With an ever-increasing older population and more older adults choosing to age at home, the challenge to support older adults living independently is huge.

The ACTIVAGE Project offers an opportunity to help researchers find better ways for active and healthy ageing in future.

The Solution

MiHome, Samsung and ACTIVAGE have been working together to prolong and support the independent living of older adults in their living environments.

By rolling out a trial of MiHome energy monitors to a 1,000 users in Leeds including a mix of primary carers, GPs, and family members, the project will use MiHome smart home technology to create a system that will enable an independent living environment for users ensuring that individuals can have healthier and happier lives.

MiHome are also involved with Samsung on the Europe wide ACTIVAGE Project to build the first European IoT ecosystem across 9 deployment sites in seven European countries that will enable the deployment and operation at large scale of Active and Healthy Ageing IoT based solutions and services, supporting and extending the independent living of older adults in their living environment, and responding to real needs of caregivers, service providers and public authorities.

The ACTIVAGE partnership offers hope for many people and it is an opportunity to help researchers find better ways for active and healthy ageing in future.
